Yesterday’s T20 match between India and West Indies was full of drama and excitement as the fans got a magnificent game of cricket in Thiruvanathapuram. India had lost the toss yet they managed to post a respectable total of 170 runs on the board after losing 7 wickets.
The opening batsmen, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul could not get the Indian team off to a good start but, team India shocked the fans by sending newbie Shivam Dube in the middle at number 3. Dube could not get going in the initial phase of the innings. However, soon, he found his form and destroyed the West Indies bowling attack.
His 54-run knock helped India set a challenging target for West Indies. The visiting side found it tough to middle the deliveries from the Indian bowlers. There were a few mistimed shots as well but, the Indian fielders could not take perfect catches.
There were many fielding errors from India’s side and in the end, this led to West Indies’ win. Lendl Simmons returned to form and registered his first T20I fifty since the 2016 T20 World Cup. Coincidentally, his last fifty was also against India when the two teams had battled in the semifinal match of the World Cup.
There’s a saying in the world that ‘Fortune favors the brave’. Shivam Dube’s case from yesterday’s game was the best example of this thing. He was batting bravely on the pitch, striking almost every delivery for a boundary. However, one of the balls hit at the bottom of his bat and carried straight to Kieron Pollard.
It looked like the opposition captain would take the catch with ease however, something unusual happened and he decided to dodge himself from the floodlights effect. Fortunately, he did not pick up an injury while Shivam got a new life.
