Former Indian cricket team batsman VVS Laxman has today praised Zaheer Khan on twitter. Laxman shared a picture of Zaheer Khan and praises his success from a small-town boy to star bowler of India.
VVS Laxman started a different type of series on tweets from last week in which he shares the picture of his fellow players and writes about them. In this series, Laxman has already praised many legends including Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
Tweeting about Zaheer Khan, Laxman wrote,
“Daring to dream big & determined to chase those dreams, @ImZaheer‘s journey from tiny Shrirampur to the dizzy heights of success illustrated the strength of his character.”
Zaheer made his international debut in an ODI match against Kenya in October 2000. He was also part of the Indian fast bowling attack at the 2003 World Cup along with Ashish Nehra and Javagal Srinath. However, Zaheer’s form deteriorated after that and he also had injuries and got dropped from the team.

He returned in 2004 but saw a decrease in speed and consistency. Due to which RP Singh, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, and Sreesanth joined the team, and Zaheer was again out of the Indian team.
He then decided to play county cricket. Zaheer Khan took 10 wickets while debuting in county cricket. And he became the first bowler to do so in 100 years. After his successful county stint, he was again included in the Indian team in 2006. On Zaheer’s county stint, Laxman quoted,
“His career-defining county stint at Worcester reiterated his desire to reinvent himself & shed comfort zones.”
