Former Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage had alleged the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka. According to him, the 2011 World Cup final was fixed.
Sri Lanka’s former sports minister Aluthgamage told newswire.lk,
“The 2011 Cricket World Cup final was fixed. I stand by what I say. It took place when I was the minister of sports,”
However, Mahela Jayawardene who scored a century in the 2011 World Cup final, has ridiculed the allegations. Jayawardene on twitter said,
“Is the elections around the corner Th inking. Looks like the circus has started Clown face names and evidence?”

Kumar Sangakkara was the captain of the Sri Lankan team in the 2011 World Cup. He has also come in support of Mahela Jayawardene. He says that if there is no evidence then these speculations needs to be stopped.
“Then no one needs to speculate and can get to the bottom of this. That should be the most prudent course of action,” Sangakkara told News 1st channel.
After this, Sangakkara also expressed his support on his Twitter handle. Kumar Sangakkara tweeted,
“He needs to take his “evidence” to the ICC and the Anti-corruption and Security Unit so the claims can be investigated throughly”, Kumar Sangakkara tweeted.

Talking about the match, India won the World Cup after 28 years. Sri Lanka team batted first after winning the toss and Mahela Jayawardene scored a century. Sri Lankan team gave a target of 275 to the Indian team.
Gautam Gambhir’s 97 runs and MS Dhoni’s 91 runs inning helped the Indian team to lift the World Cup after 28 years.
