England and West Indies Cricket Board announced that the series will be played between the two teams from 8 July. In the midst of the Corona crisis, it is relief news for cricket fans.

England and West Indies teams will play a three-match Test series in July, although this series is dependent on the UK government’s approval to play in the empty stadium without the audience. The first match will be played at Hampshire’s Ages Bowl, while the second and third matches will be played at Old Trafford Ground.

According to the England Cricket Board, all the stadiums will be bio-secured before playing the match and all the safety measures will be taken.

Today West Indies have announced a 14-man squad for the tour of England in July. However, Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer, and Keemo Paul have refused to go to England due to fear of coronavirus. According to the statement from Cricket West Indies,

“Darren Bravo, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul all declined the invitation to travel to England for the tour and CWI fully respects their decision to choose to do so, CWI said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) also clarifies that it will not use this decision of the players against them while selecting the team in the future.

“As previously stated, CWI will not hold this decision against these players when considering future selection.”
