Tim Bresnan leaves Yorkshire after 19 years

Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has decided to leave Yorkshire County Cricket with immediate effect, ending his 19-year career with the club. The 35-year-old cricketer entered first-class cricket for Yorkshire in 2003 against Northamptonshire. He left the club on Wednesday in search of other opportunities for the game.

Bresnan, who played a key role in England’s two Ashes series victories, said,

“I would like to thank Yorkshire for giving me 19 fantastic years and the opportunity when I was younger to kick-start my career. Hopefully, with me moving aside, the younger players will get their opportunity to kick-start their careers as well,”

While with Tim Bresnan, Yorkshire won consecutive county championships in 2014 and 2015. The best year for Bresnan was 2016 when he was voted the club’s best player of the year for his all-round performance. He added,

“It has given me immense pride to represent the county for the best part of two decades. My Yorkshire cap is one of my proudest possessions.

“I didn’t take this decision lightly but now is the best time to move on. There is still plenty of fire in my belly and I look forward to what the future brings,” Bresnan added.

Tim Bresnan has taken 557 wickets in 199 first-class matches so far and has scored 6714 runs. He has also scored 3221 runs in List A with 315 wickets in 173 matches. Apart from this, he took 168 wickets in 173 T20 matches and scored 1533 runs.
