As of now, BCCI has to organize T20 World Cup from 18 October to 15 November. But the chances of this ICC tournament being held in India are low, after seeing the horrific results of the second wave of Covid-19 spread in India.

According to BCCI’s general manager, Dhiraj Malhotra BCCI has not lost hope of organizing the World Cup yet.

But he also believed that the UAE would prove to be a better venue for organizing the tournament. But hosting rights would be remaining to BCCI only even if it is organized in UAE. He said,

“It’s too early to say what will happen. But the contingency plan is that it would go to UAE with the hosting rights staying with BCCI.”

Earlier BCCI had also declared the venues for the T20 World Cup. BCCI selected Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow as the nine host venues for T20I World Cup 2021. But as per the current situation, it is difficult for BCCI to organize T20 World Cup smoothly.

However, BCCI has been successful till now in organizing the 14th season of IPL in India only. But in IPL there are only 8 teams but T20 World Cup will be of 16 teams.

So it would be extremely difficult to organize a World Cup tournament adorned with 16 teams in comparison to the eight-team tournament, in the current circumstances.
