Former Rajasthan Royals pace bowler, Siddharth Trivedi took part in an exclusive chat with Sportskeeda recently where he heaped praises on the former Indian all-rounder, Suresh Raina. The vice-captain of Chennai Super Kings is known for his selflessness. The picture of Raina celebrating Virat Kohli’s century in the 2015 World Cup had gone viral on the internet.
Just like that, there have been many occasions when Raina left behind his individual records and played for the team. Many fans have even noticed that the left-handed batsman is the first fielder to hug a bowler when he takes a wicket.
His former teammate, Siddharth Trivedi recalled their U-19 days, remembering how the selectors picked Suresh Raina top lead the Air India team.
Talking about the selection meeting that happened, Trivedi said:
“We were monitoring Raina since his U-19 days and he was with us even in the NCA. Even back then, just like how he was an exceptional batsman, a great fielder and brought out a lot of positivity and that’s why the challenge was thrown at him. He did a fantastic job. A lot of things depend on how a character is, he was positive about whatever he did.”

It is worth noting that Raina has even received multiple opportunities to captain the Indian cricket team. Besides, he has even led the Chennai Super Kings in the absence of MS Dhoni. This highlights the fact that he could have been a great captain had he received a proper opportunity.
