After a 7-year ban in the spot-fixing case, the Kerala Cricket Association has decided to include pacer S Sreesanth in the Ranji squad of the state. 37-year-old Sreesanth will end his 7-year ban in September this year. Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth in a spot-fixing case in May 2013 while playing in the Indian Premier League.
Sreesanth was part of the Rajasthan Royals team during that time and along with him Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan were also arrested. After this incident, BCCI banned Sreesanth for life. But after a two-year-long battle, a special court in Delhi acquitted him from all cases.

After this, in the year 2018, the Kerala High Court also dropped all the charges of BCCI against Sreesanth. Though the BCCI appealed to the Supreme Court after this and Supreme Court convicted Sreesanth. But the life ban of the BCCI changed to seven years, which will be completed in September this year.
After this decision of Kerala Cricket Association, Sreesanth said,
“I am really indebted to the KCA for giving me a chance. I will prove my fitness and storm back to the game. It is time for all controversies to take rest.”
KCA has recently appointed former fast bowler Tinu Yohanan as the chief coach and Kerala Cricket Association secretary Sreeith Nair said that Sreesanth’s return is a heritage of our state team.
Sreesanth has taken a total of 87 wickets in Test matches for the Indian team. At the same time, he has 75 wickets in ODIs. Sreesanth was also part of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team.
