Nitin Menon and Paul Reiffel have withdrawn from IPL 2021

After players now 2 umpires have also decided to withdraw from the 14th season of the Indian Premier League. This includes Indian umpire Nitin Menon and Australia’s Paul Reiffel. Both the umpires withdrew from IPL due to Covid-19 citing as personal reasons.

According to BCCI, Members of Nitin’s family have been found infected with Covid-19, and after that Nitin has decided to withdraw from the tournament.

Whereas Australia’s Paul Reiffel withdrew from the Indian Premier League (IPL) because Australia has banned flights from India after an increase in coronavirus cases in India.

According to the reports Menon’s wife and mother who live in Indore, have been found Covid positive. After that, he decided to opt out of the IPL 2021. Menon is the only Indian Umpire in the Elite Panel of International Cricket Council (ICC) umpires.

An official of the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) told PTI

“Yes, Nitin has left as his immediate family members have COVID-19 and he is currently not in a mental state to conduct games.”

Nitin Menon is the second Indian who has withdrawn from IPL 2021 after Delhi Capital’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin
