The England team has suffered a major setback ahead of the 3-match Test series against the West Indies starting on 8 July. England captain Joe Root is ruled out from the first test vs West Indies. In his place vice-captain, Ben Stokes will take over as captain in the first Test. The ICC has given this information by tweeting from its official twitter handle.

Joe Root is about to become a father for a second time around the first test date. In such a situation, he wants to be with his wife at the time of delivery. The 3-match Test series against the West Indies is going to start from July 8. With this series, International cricket will start after 3 months gap due to t he Coronavirus.

Joe Root’s participation in the second test match is also not confirmed. Because he will have to stay in Quarantine for seven days before joining the team.

Significantly, the Test series between West Indies and hosts England will be played at a completely ‘biologically safe’ venue. International cricket will return via this series after a long time due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.

The first match of this Test series will be played at the Aegis Bowl in Hampshire from 8 to 12 July. While the remaining two matches will be played at Emirates Old Trafford. The second Test will start from July 16 while the third match will be played from July 24.
