Cricket Australia (CA) chairman Earl Eddings has said that the proposed T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November this year amid the Covid-19 epidemic is ‘Unrealistic’.
Now Edding’s statement has also affected the proposed three-match India vs Australia T20 series in October. This series is planned to be played on October 11,14 and 17. Given the situation, the BCCI is optimistic that rescheduling the T20 series will not be an issue.
A BCCI official told IANS on Tuesday that the board would definitely use that window to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) if the T20 World Cup is canceled. Also, a three-match T20 series against Australia can be planned in such a way that it can happen before the Test series against Australia or after the ODI.
The official said,
“If the T20 World Cup is scrapped, as it increasingly looks as if it will, then travelling to Australia in October would not be practical and we can visit them post the IPL, if the IPL season indeed happens during that period.
“If the IPL was not to take place then it would impact the FTP as far as India is concerned as the BCCI will have to ensure revenues to ensure that the domestic players earn money this year. This is only the scenario pertaining to India. The other boards also have their issues. The indecision at the ICC is costing the ICC members at the moment,” he further added

Due to the quarantine rules it won’t be possible to fly Australia multiple times. Rather it would make sense if India visits Australia once and play Test, ODI, and T20 series and then return.
The ICC T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November this year. But this event is under threat due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
