Out of the 29 players touring England, 10 Pakistani cricketers have caught up Coronavirus, but the PCB on Tuesday that confirms that the tour is still on the right track.
The Pakistan Cricket Board on 22 June announced that 3 players tested positive for COVID-19. A day later, the board informed that seven more players from his team have been infected with the virus, including senior players Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz.
The PCB reported that a total of 10 players who have been infected with Corona. This includes Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hasnain, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz, and Imran Khan. Apart from these 10 players, Pakistan has also confirmed that 1 support staff is also tested positive for coronavirus.
The PCB had informed that they did not have any symptoms of coronavirus till Sunday before being tested in Rawalpindi. PCB CEO Wasim Khan feels the tour is still on track and the team will depart as scheduled.
“The tour to England is very much on track and the side will depart as per schedule on 28 June.”
He also added,
“Fortunately, all the first-choice red-ball squad, barring Mohammad Rizwan, are negative, which means they can start training and practicing immediately after they have been tested and given the all clear when they arrive in England.”
ECB Director Ashley Giles also feels that series will be played as scheduled. On Tuesday Giles said on a video call said,
“We are far enough away from the start of the test series to not worry about that too much at the moment.”
