The first super over of the IPL 2021 season was played between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 25th April at Chennai. The 20th match of IPL 2021 was tied between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals won the match in Super over by chasing a target of 8 runs.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and batting first, scored 159 runs with the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. At the same time, chasing the target, the Hyderabad team also scored 159 runs with the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
For Delhi Capitals Prithivi Shaw scored a fifty. He scored 53 runs in 39 balls and also hit 7 fours and 1 six in his inning. Apart from Shaw, Dhawan (28 of 26 balls), Rishabh Pant (37 of 27 balls) and Steve Smith (34 of 25 balls) added few runs in the middle overs and took the team total to 159/4 in 20 overs.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad veteran middle-order batsman Kane Williamson played an unbeaten inning of 66 runs. Williamson faced 51 balls during this and he hit eight fours in this inning.
Apart from Kane Williamson, Wicketkeeper-batsman Johnny Bairstow scored 38 runs off 18 balls with three fours and four sixes. While in the end J Suchit coming to bat at number 9 scored 15 runs from six balls. Due to Suchit’s fancy hits in the last over to Kagiso Rabada SRH was able to draw the match but lost in super over.
But Sunrisers Hyderabad once again lost a match from winning position. With this defeat, they are now placed at 7th position in the Points Table. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s only win in 5 matches came against Punjab Kings.
Whereas Delhi Capitals has strengthened its position and reached to 2nd number in the points table.
