The Executive Board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has deferred a decision on the future of the Asia Cup T20 tournament to be held this year. There is speculation that the tournament may be postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic.
The Asia Cup is to be held in September this year. After this, it is the turn of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to organize the Asia Cup. And if it is organized then it will be hosted in another country except for Pakistan as the Indian team is not likely to go to Pakistan.
It is learned that the ACC will await the decision of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the T20 World Cup (October-November) to be held in Australia and only then decide on the Asia Cup.
After the meeting on Monday, the ACC said in a press release,
“The Board emphasized the importance of holding the Asia Cup 2020. In light of the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, possible venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 were discussed and it was decided to take the final decision in due course, “
