Chris Gayle in Caribbean Premier League: CPL

Chris Gayle, the aggressive batsman of the West Indies cricket team, will no longer be seen in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League ). Chris Gayle withdrew his name from this league just one day before the players were drafted. For this, he has cited personal reasons.

The CPL will be held in Trinidad and Tobago this time from August 18 to September 10 and is awaiting government approval.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Gayle wrote in his email that he could not meet his family and children due to the lockdown which is in St. Kitts and he was in Jamaica. He has said that he needs a break to spend time with his family.

For this season St Lucia Zouks signed Chris Gayle. Earlier he was part of Jamaica Tallawahs. But the Jamaican team dropped him for this Chris Gayle for this season.

A spokesperson from Caribbean Premier League said,

“We understand that Chris has decided to not take part in CPL personal reasons. We wish Chris all the best for the rest of 2020 and hope to see him back at CPL in 2021.”

Jamaica Tallawahs had a very poor performance in CPL in the year 2019. Due to this the team was at the last position in the table. Subsequently, some tough decisions were made for good performance in CPL 2020.
