The debate between fans and cricket experts is continuing, Can Virat Kohli score 100 international centuries and break the record of Sachin Tendulkar.
Indian captain Virat Kohli has so far scored 43 ODI centuries and 27 Test centuries in international cricket. Although Virat has broken many big records so far. But he is still 30 centuries away from India’s great Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.
In a recent interview, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen spoke on this issue. In an interview with TimesNowNews.com, Pietersen said that the record could be difficult for Kohli as Injury could hamper his career. Asked if you think Can Virat Kohli score 100 international centuries and break the record of Sachin Tendulkar, the former England batsman replied,
It’s difficult because of injury, the longevity of Tendulkar’s career.
Pietersen further said that Tendulkar was much quieter than Kohli on the field and was not even playing T20I for most of his career. Pietersen said,
Tendulkar wasn’t as emotional when he was in the field and he did not carry the same sort of aggressive attitude on the field. He was a lot more relaxed. It depends on how long Virat Kohli continues to play.
Meanwhile, Kevin Pietersen also added that Virat Kohli plays all three formats of cricket. But Sachin Tendulkar didn’t play T20I cricket. He added,
Remember, Kohli plays all three forms of the game, plus he plays the IPL. For majority of Sachin Tendulkar’s career, there was no T20 cricket and there was no IPL. So it all depends on how long Kohli plays for.
