BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has said that the BCCI has no plans to cut salaries of players or employees. He also says BCCI is also not going to lay off people in this mid of the economic recession caused by COVID-19.
While Cricket Australia, New Zealand Cricket, Cricket West Indies, and England and Wales Cricket Board have cut the salaries of their players and staff. On the other hand, the emphasis of the BCCI is to maintain the status quo as much as possible.
Dhumal told The New Indian Express,
“The BCCI has done some cost control after the elected office-bearers took charge last October. The process started before the pandemic. But there has been no pay cut or lay-off as of now. We have cut costs on other fronts like travel, hospitality, etc,”
Dhumal’s statement has brought relief to most of the board employees. However, Dhumal said that if the IPL did not happen this year, the board would be forced to make some changes. It is believed that in the event of not having IPL, BCCI may have to bear a loss of about 4000 crores

Significantly, no information has been received from the board about the IPL, which has been postponed indefinitely. However, there are speculations that if this T20 World Cup is not held, then the IPL can be held in October-November instead.
To this, Dhumal said,
“IPL not happening will have a huge impact and we will assess the situation before taking a fresh call,”
If reports to be believed it is also being said that BCCI is divided into the organisation of IPL this year. The fate of the Indian Premier League 2020 totally depends now on ICC’s upcoming meeting. If ICC shifts the T20 World Cup 2020 then BCCI can organize IPL this year in the Sep-Oct window. The next meeting of ICC is on 10th June.
