The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Sunday banned wicketkeeper-batsman Shafiqullah Shafak for six years from all formats of the game. Shafak admitted the violation of ACB’s anti-corruption rules. ACB gave this information in a statement.

The statement released on the ACB’s official website said that the allegations against Shafak are related to Afghanistan Premier League (APL) -2018 and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) -2019.

ACB Senior Anti-Corruption Manager Syed Anwar Sah Qureshi said that

“This is a very serious offense where a senior national player is involved in the corruption of a high-profile domestic game in APL T20 2018. The player had also attempted but failed to get one of his teammates to engage in corruption in another high-profile game during the BPL 2019.”

Qureshi said that

“It is an alert for all those players who think their illegal activities concerning the game of cricket will not be disclosed to the ACB’s ACU. Our coverage is vaster than what is perceived.”

Shafak has been charged with violation of Article 2.1.1, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.4 of the Anti-Corruption Rule of ACB.

Had a double century in 2018

Shafiqullah did an amazing double century in the domestic T20 tournament Nangarhar Champion Trophy

with the help of just 21 sixes and 16 fours in the year 2018. In this match, he scored 214 runs on just 71 balls. He also holds the record for making the fastest double century in first-class cricket. He scored a double century off 89 balls.
