China’s products and companies are facing protests across the country. On the other hand, the BCCI has clearly stated that it will not end the agreement of Title sponsorship with Vivo.
The anti-China atmosphere is heated after military tensions between the two countries on the border in Ladakh. In the violence on the India-China border, 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.
Since then, the boycott of Chinese products is being demanded. Dhumal however said that the country is benefiting from the sponsorship of IPL by Chinese companies. BCCI receives Rs 440 crore annually from Vivo for Title sponsorship. This is a five-year agreement that will end in 2022.

The BCCI said that it is ready to review its sponsorship policy for the next round. But BCCI has no intention of ending the agreement with the current title sponsor of IPL Vivo. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal also says that India is benefiting from the money coming from the Chinese company in India. Dhumal said,
“We understand the sentiments in the country, and there could be a backlash over title sponsorship of the IPL but there are still things that we need to understand.”
“The contract was signed by our predecessors. It’s a five-year deal and will continue. As far as anti-China sentiment is concerned, I am all for ban on Chinese products. For me personally, and BCCI as an organisation, the country comes first. But we have to differentiate between awarding contracts to a Chinese company and securing sponsorships. The money is coming into India.” he argued.
“Till the time a Chinese company is allowed to sell their product and make money from the Indian consumer, why should that money (sponsorship) be allowed to go out of India, is my limited point.
