The crisis is still clouded over the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament has been postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is keeping an eye on what time IPL 2020 can be organized this year. Apart from this, whether IPL should be held in India or abroad it is being discussed.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been divided into 3-2 over the venue of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The majority is about organizing this league in India itself, but many want to organize it out of the country if needed.
A BCCI official told IANS that the general thinking about organizing the IPL is that the league should be held in India. But there are also those who want that the league can be moved outside India if the situation demands it. The official quoted
“See, it is a case of the decision-makers being divided 3-2 if that is how you wish to understand the current scenario. Without going into the names of who said what, all I can tell you is that the general feeling is that having the league in India would not only be a sign of positivity amongst the people of the country but will also help as we will not need to travel abroad and act to a fresh set of guidelines.
“But then, there are a couple of voices who also feel that having the tournament should be the priority and if that means taking it out of the country, so be it. So, while we are working on the overall plan, the venue is an area that will need further deliberation. Also, at the end of the day safety of the players and everyone involved is the priority,” the official added.
There is still no confirmation over the organization of IPL this year. Whereas England team is going to host West Indies for the 3 match test series starting from 8th July.
