Chennai Super Kings’ wicket-keeper batsman, Ambati Rayudu recently appeared on an Instagram live video with his IPL franchise. The Coronavirus pandemic has compelled all the cricketers to stay at home, instead of entertaining the fans by playing in IPL 2020. Because of the nationwide lockdown, BCCI had no other option but to suspend the tournament indefinitely.
The social media admins of the south Indian franchise asked Rayudu about his favorite IPL team. In case you did not know, the right-handed wicket-keeper batsman has played for only two franchises in career, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. He won three championships with Mumbai before he moved to MS Dhoni’s team in 2018.
Although he achieved so much success with the Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise, Rayudu did not pick it as his favorite team.
While there is no doubt about the fact that Mumbai is the most successful team in IPL history, one cannot deny that Chennai has the most loyal fanbase. Rayudu lauded the yellow army fans for their incredible support, thereby selecting CSK as his favorite team.
Here’s what he answered:
“CSK fans are emotional like how south Indians are, they have knowledge. Even when playing for India we don’t see such a fan base.”
He further described how CSK is different from MI and continued:
“At CSK it’s pretty calm, they have a lot more faith in players ability, while MI is more ‘play-your-role’ kind of a setup.”
There is a huge question mark over the start date of IPL 2020. It will be intriguing to see if the fans would get to witness an IPL tourney this year.
