Hitman Rohit Sharma has narrated a story related to his first double century when Yuvraj Singh wanted me to break the record for the most runs scored in an innings by Virendra Sehwag in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma told in an Instagram chat with off-spinner R Ashwin that in 2013 when I first scored his first ODI double century against Australia in Bengaluru, Yuvraj Singh’s expectations from him were quite high.

Rohit Sharma scored 209 runs against Australia on 2 November 2013 in Bengaluru ODI. Rohit had 12 fours and 16 sixes during his innings. Due to this innings of Rohit Sharma, India defeated Australia 3–2 in that ODI series. During this innings, Rohit Sharma missed out on scoring the highest individual ODI score then by just 11 runs.

Yuvi-Dhawan’s expectations were increased by my innings

Before him, Virender Sehwag scored 219 runs in the ODI match played on 8 December 2011 against West Indies in Indore. Sehwag hit 25 fours and 7 sixes during his innings. India beat West Indies by 153 runs in this match.

Rohit Sharma said that when he was going to the pavilion after hitting a double century, someone told him that if you would bat an over and you would have broken the record of Virender Sehwag. When you play such an inning, then the expectations of dressing form increase greatly from you. At that time, 3-4 people were expecting me to bat one over and in dressing form. Yuvraj Singh was one of them and probably Shikhar Dhawan.
