Indian players who have won Golden bat in ICC World Cup

Indian cricket team has had a tremendous journey so far in the ICC Cricket World Cup India has so far won the two titles in the World Cup in 2011 after 1983. Talking about the World Cup, the batsmen of the Indian cricket team have always dominated and have also got the Golden Bat in the World Cup.

So here are three batsmen of the Indian cricket team who have made their name in the history of the ICC Cricket World Cup Golden Bat Award


1) Sachin Tendulkar – 1996 and 2003

It is not unknown how big Sachin Tendulkar is in the cricket world. Sachin Tendulkar has major batting records in ODIs and Test formats in world cricket on his name. He made a major contribution to the Indian cricket team in all the World Cups he has ever played.

Sachin Tendulkar is the first Indian cricketer who won the golden bat award in the ICC Cricket World Cup. In World Cup 1996, Sachin Tendulkar scored 523 runs and became the first-ever Indian batsman to win a golden bat award in ICC Cricket World Cup.

However, India lost in the semifinals of that World Cup against Sri Lanka but Sachin Tendulkar still remained the highest run-scorer in that World Cup.

In the 2003 World Cup Sachin Tendulkar once again won the golden bat award. He batted tremendously in the World Cup played in South Africa in 2003. His amazing batting made India travel to the finals. In this, Sachin won the Golden Bat by scoring 673 runs in 11 matches but India lost in the finals against Australia.

So as of now Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer in the world who has won the golden bat award twice in ICC Cricket World Cup.


2) Rahul Dravid – 1999

Former captain of the Indian cricket team and veteran batsman Rahul Dravid became “The Wall” of the Indian team. Rahul Dravid made a big name in ODIs and Test formats after making his debut for India but the 1999 World Cup proved very special for him in the team.

Rahul Dravid gave a terrific performance in the 1999 World Cup played in England. Dravid scored 461 runs in 8 matches for India in this World Cup. Due to his spectacular performance, he won the first Golden Bat for India in World Cup.


3) Rohit Sharma – 2019

Indian cricket team opener Rohit Sharma is the most important batsman on the team these days. Rohit Sarma has been making a big contribution to the success of the Indian team by batting for the past few years. However, Rohit Sharma has been performing tremendously for a long time. But his performance in the 2019 World Cup was very impressive.

Although India came out of the race in the semi-finals of the world. But Rohit Sharma’s performance was recorded in history. He scored 5 centuries in this World Cup and scored 648 runs in 8 matches. He was awarded the Golden Bat for this performance.

4) Virat Kohli – 2023

Virat Kohli won the Golden Bat in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 765 runs. His record-breaking 50th ODI century in the semi-final against New Zealand was a highlight, showcasing his ability to perform on the biggest stage. However, despite his brilliance, India fell short in the final, missing out on the coveted trophy.

Although India couldn’t lift the World Cup, Kohli’s heroics further cemented his legacy as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history.
