Australian women’s cricket star Ellyse Perry has said that Cricket Australia is ready for a female CEO. She thinks this is the time the new CEO of the Australian cricket board should be a woman.
Ellyse Perry comments this after Cricket Australia on Tuesday appointed Nick Hockley as its new interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He received this position after resigning from the post of Kevin Roberts.
Kevin Roberts was appointed as the CEO of the board in place of Sutherland after the ball-tampering scandal. Kevin Roberts‘s decision during the Covid-19 epidemic faced criticism and after that, he resigned from his position.

Hockley is appointed but he is on an interim basis. So Cricket Australia is still finding a permanent placement in place of Kevin Roberts. Ellyse Perry feels a female can join as the new CEO of the board. During a video call with Reporters on Friday, she told,
“I think Cricket Australia has been ready for a female CEO for a long time.”
According to Parry, Western Australia chief Chris Matthews may be the most suitable candidate for the post.
“I know Chris (Matthews) was in discussions for the last round of hiring for the role. I don’t think it’s something that’s new.”
“We’ve got a number of women working in high executive roles in Cricket Australia, Belinda Clark, and Steph Beltrame to name a couple,” she added.
It is worth noting that Cricket Australia is the only board to follow the equal pay model for its both Men and Women teams. So it will be an interesting decision whether Cricket Australia appoints a woman as the new CEO or not.
